20th January 2012 - Official opening of the Claymore Road off road cycle project. The project has been completed ahead of schedule and in time for the start of the new school year. Come along and be part of the official ceremony.
The new off-road cycle project will enhance the safety of all pedestrians who wish to walk or cycle along Claymore Road, particularly the students of Chancellor State College and those travelling to the University of the Sunshine Coast.

16th December 2011 - Project finished and at long last we have our bike/footpath. It opened today. See news item, click here.

6th September 2011 - Stage 2 has started today. The foundation for the pathway is being laid near Sippy Downs Drive, towards Bainbridge Cct.

17th August 2011 - Stage 1 pathway complete. The final section of concrete for the pathway was poured today. Good news for the Community. Councillor Dickson advises that work will start shortly on stage 2, from Bainbridge Circt. to Sippy Downs Drive.

21st July 2011 - The final footpath works on the current stage one of the Claymore Road project commenced this week, these works are expected to be complete within the next 3 weeks. The kerb ramps at Albany St & Fitzwilliam Dr will be completed as part of these works.

15th July 2011 - SCC Project#9538. Newsletter update on stage 2 off road pathway, from Cr.Christian Disckson click here

23rd June 2011 - SCRCouncil announces timeline of stage 2 of Claymore Rd. footpath. The $1.1million works represent stage two of the project. Stage one included the construction of pedestrian and cyclist pathway along Claymore Road that linked Fitzwilliam Street to Albany Street across the bottom of Chancellor Lakes. Cr Dickson said the state government had jointly funded the second stage of works that would start in late July and be completed by December (weather permitting). 14th June 2011 - Minister announces decision on the Cycle Network Program for the bike/footpath (Bainbridge Cct. to Sippy Downs Dr.) along Claymore Rd. (stage 2). WE WON!!  Read the Press Release: click here

9th June 2011 - The Minister's response: click here. Is it good enough?

10th May 2011 - The Petition which was sponsored by Jarrod Bleijie MP, was tabled in the Qld. Parliament today. We are waiting on the Minister's response.

5th April 2011 - SCRC has commenced construction on only part of the bike footpath on Claymore Rd. between Albany St. & Fitzwilliam Drive (stage 1). Estimated time of completion is 21st June (11 weeks). We need your support to secure funding from the State Government, to construct the missing link between Bainbridge Cct. & Sippy Downs Drive. This section is the most dangerous and places our school children at most risk of serious injury (see photo below: courtesy of Maroochy Journal). Council has made another funding application to the State Govt. through the Cycle Network Program (received 1 April 2011 for 2011-12 funding) addressing concerns which were rejected the previous year.

Thank you to:

  • SC Council & Cr. Christian Disckson
  • the State Member's Office & Jarrod Bleijie MP
  • [Hon Ms] Annastacia Palaszczuk,
Minister for Transport and Multicultural Affairs
  • Local residents who have voiced their concerns and signed our petition.
