Mickelberg’s campaign to upgrade Scholars Drive ramps up: Premier needs to stump up

Yesterday in State Parliament Member for Buderim Brent Mickelberg again called on the Premier to put her money where her mouth is and fund Scholars Drive.

Mr Mickelberg tabled a petition to the Labor State Government and called on Premier Palaszczuk to: work with the Sippy Downs and Chancellor State College community; stump up the cash to fix Scholars Drive congestion; and prevent the unthinkable from happening before it is too late.

“As I reminded her yesterday, the Premier said on the 15th of May this year: ‘I always say that government works best when all levels of government work together.’ I couldn’t agree more Premier,” Mr Mickelberg said.

“Last week I stood beside Sunshine Coast Councillor Christian Dickson when he announced Council’s $200,000 investment to upgrade Scholars Drive and now I call on Premier Palaszczuk to step up.

“I urge the Premier to prove she meant what she said and work with the Sunshine Coast Council to fix the problem that is Scholars Drive and release the Sippy Downs community from their daily nightmare.

“It was a Labor Government that built a large school on a dead-end street and it’s time Premier Palaszczuk stumped up the money to fix the congestion caused by Labor’s own poor planning decisions.

“This is a great opportunity for Premier Palaszczuk to show the people of Sippy Downs that politics can be put aside when the safety of our kids is at stake. Scholars Drive is a disaster waiting to happen and Sippy Downs residents deserve better,”. Mr Mickelberg said.

“I will not stop fighting until Labor accept their part of this mess and fix Scholars Drive. The LNP committed $1 million dollars to a solution if elected to Government so why can’t Labor?

The milk is spilling!

The milk is spilling!

The old adage don’t cry over spilled milk is very wise indeed and the message is simple… the only time we have any power to enact change is before something happens.

Something is about to happen, the milk is spilling, but it’s not spilled yet! As we have shared before, it is important that the community stands up and shows their desire for a much needed proposed community facility precinct for Sippy Downs – by completing a letter of support which can be completed via the link below.

Submitted letters of support will be used to demonstrate community interest to the council.

This link also includes images and information on the proposal.
