Following a lot of conjecture in the community about what is happening in relation to traffic & parking at Chancellor State Primary School (in Scholars Dr, Sippy Downs) and the overflow parking issues that plague the local community at pick up times for students, we arranged an interview with (Councillor) Cr Christian Dickson to see where he is at in delivering much needed solutions.
We urge all members of the community who may be affected by parking and traffic problems to watch this interview to ensure you are up to date with the current progress and fully aware of potential issues and possible action that may need to be taken to deliver real solutions.
As discussed in the interview we will present a progress update in a few weeks.
Local resident and Chancellor State School student Emily has decided to participate in the World’s Greatest Shave fundraiser and will be cutting 30cm off her hair so Sippy Downs and district residents we are calling on you to support this young lady to achieve a fundraising goals for this fantastic cause.
Cutting her hair is a big deal as she loves her long, thick hair and doesn’t even like to have it trimmed – so for a teenage girl this has been a BIG decision, not made lightly, but for a great cause!
Emily said to family and friends, “cancer patients don’t have a choice re their hair when going through chemotherapy – I have a choice and it is something positive I am able to do to help out” – even though she doesn’t really want to cut it.
Money raised goes towards cancer research and services
Emily’s hair will go to make a wig for a cancer patient.

This amazing piece of artwork lovingly crafted onto the VW Bonnet pictured is made by Mieke Salna, a Sippy Downs, local mural/airbrush artist.
The image depicts the WWI landing in Gallipoli, Australians fighting in the jungle in Vietnam and on the right an Australian soldier from Afghanistan. The center the bonnet immortalises a WWI soldier and an Australian soldier from the Afghanistan conflict, with the modern soldier telling the old cobber “lets go home”.
This bonnet will soon make it’s reunion to the 1974 Volkswagon Beetle it came from which has been fully restored thanks to the initiative of Darroon Mathews. A lot of businesses have joined forces to help restore the Beetle for either a very reduced rate or sponsored parts. Darroon started this project with the beetle you see here above and will be very soon finished ready to be auctioned off. All proceeds will go to the Vietnam Veterans Association Maroochydore. Darroon Matthews approached Mieke to paint this artwork as she was recommended by Kuston Paints in Woombey after they had seen some of my work on a helmet that she had done last year.
The artwork has been painted with Createx, Whicked and illustration colours. A photographer is coming to make pictures of it tomorrow and when the Beetle is all done it will be on display in the showroon at Cricks in Maroochydore.
