Winter does not mean Snakes are not About!

Winter does not mean Snakes are not About!

It might be winter but that doesn’t mean there are snakes out and about around Sippy Downs.

We just came across a post from local Beck Hart on the Sippy Downs Community – Connect Facebook group showing a photo of what appears to be a red belly black snake in a property on the corner of university way and Fitzgerald Street here in Sippy Downs.

After photographing the snake and exploring potential solutions the snake had left this location and as yet has not bee caught. If you leave in the vicinity of this location please be aware that this snake is on the move.

Here in Sippy Downs living on the very edge over National Park always pays to consider that there may be wildlife on your property, potentially wildlife that can do you harm.

Please don’t ever be complacent and always check places like your pets kennels and children’s play areas vigilantly.

Background :

Through town planning consultant Innovative Planning Solutions, the Sippy Downs & District Community Association Inc (SDDCA) has been engaging with the landowner re a parcel of land bordering Chancellor Park Estate, located on Peter Crosby Way, Sippy Downs. The late Peter Crosby farmed the land for almost 50 years and had a vision to see community facilities delivered on this land for the benefit of Sippy Downs residents. The SDDCA has been engaging with Ben Crosby, who continues to have a contractual interest, and new landowners Living Choice Australia.

To paint a clear picture of the development site – it is mainly cleared farmland. All of the mature trees bordering Red Cedar Street and Sippy Creek would be retained. Of the 50ha site, only 13ha is proposed for development.

Late June-mid August. Temporary changes to traffic conditions – part University Way to Sippy Downs Drive

In preparation for the new signalised intersection at University Way – Sippy Downs Drive, major construction works are required.  This includes extensive works along a section of University Drive. To minimise inconvenience to the community, the project team is committed to retaining traffic flow along University Way and Sippy Downs Drive and has scheduled the start of works to take advantage of part of the Queensland school holidays and University of the Sunshine Coast semester break.

Works will take place from late June and continue through to mid-August. Construction will include day and night works from 7am – midnight.

For safety reasons and to enable construction to take place as quickly as possible,  temporary changes to traffic conditions are required. This includes part of University Way reducing to two lanes (one direction of traffic each way). We request that you allow extra travel time as a precaution during this time.

Please refer to the attached Construction Notification for further details and a map of the changed traffic conditions.  Signage will also help to direct motorists.
