Volunteers needed for exercise blood flow research.

USC Blood Flow Study

ARE YOU AGED 18-35 OR 50-85?

You have the opportunity to participate in our current research project looking at microvascular blood flow responses (USC ethics approval HREC: A/15/706)

Purpose of Research: To explore the effect of exercise intensity on calf muscle microvascular blood flow responses, and examine the effect of aging on these responses.

Who can Participate: Healthy younger adults 18-35 years of age, and healthy older adults aged 50-85. To participate in this study, you must be a non-smoker, and have no previous history of cardiovascular disease, diabetes, hypertension, or musculoskeletal disorders or injuries.

What will you need to do?: Participants will visit the University of the Sunshine Coast on 1 occasion, and the Nambour General Hospital on 2 separate occasions. Participation will involve measuring leg blood flow at rest and during a calf muscle exercise test. Participants will be offered travel assistance for the assessment visits and we will pay for public transportation or parking costs.
