Sippy Downs Albany Lakes District Park
The Sippy Downs community is invited to comment on the Draft Sippy Downs Parks Master Plan, which outlines plans for a new major, district level playing space along with improvements to existing parks and the addition of sports facilities such as basketball courts.
Division 6 Councillor Christian Dickson said the Sunshine Coast Council plan identified opportunities and priorities for future upgrades.
“This draft plan has been developed following previous consultation with our community,” Cr Dickson said.
“Our residents helped us understand park use, key issues and demand for park activities so I’m excited to be presenting a plan that incorporates their ideas and priorities.
“The main feedback from residents was that they wanted to see newer and more user-friendly parks in the Sippy Downs area and they often travel to other communities to use play spaces.
“Over the years we have completed smaller upgrades in the existing local parks by adding shade sails and new play equipment.
“The Sippy Downs Parks Master Plan now focuses on the need to construct new district-level park facilities and larger play spaces.
“This is a long-term plan with easy short-term outcomes that will really make a difference for our community, particularly in terms of safety and easy access.”

Residents are invited to review the draft master plan and provide feedback by completing the online survey on council’s website before 5pm on March 26, 2018.

Once feedback on the draft master plan has been received, council will develop a final master plan.
The final plan will provide the basis to seek funding for development and renewal of park infrastructure at Sippy Downs.
It will be delivered in stages and implementation will be dependent on future funding.
Top priorities for Sippy Downs parks
- Deliver a major district level play space with shelters, picnic and barbecue facilities for group gatherings similar to the Buderim Village Park.
- New park recreation facilities such as basketball courts, and combination soccer and rugby posts.
- Additions to existing parks including trees and shaded spaces for children to play, pathways, lighting, parking, drink fountains and toilets.
In November 2016, the Sippy Downs community was invited to undertake a park user survey and provide feedback to help shape the future of the park network.
Feedback from the park user survey has been used to guide the development of the draft Sippy Downs Parks Master Plan.
The plan has been prepared to address the lack of parks infrastructure and to guide the management and renewal of parks and open space at Sippy Downs.
Sippy Downs is a master planned community that has grown rapidly over two decades following on from delivery of the court-ordered (i.e. not approved by council) Chancellor Park development. The now heavily populated area is deficient in park infrastructure and community facilities.
Sippy Downs residents here is you chance to truly have your say about future parks upgrades for the entire area.
This is an absolutely fantastic opportunity for local residents to actively take part in providing Sunshine Coast Council and in turn Cr Christian Dickson – Division 6 the information they need to deliver future improvements to parks in Sippy Downs, Queensland that are truly needed and wanted.
It is essential that as local residents we all take part in this survey to ensure that the upgrades to be included in this Master Plan are truly representative of community needs and wants.
We are very excited to not only see these upgrades on their way but thrilled to see the consultation for this master plan being delivered in a way that is truly collaborative, inclusive and available to each and every local resident including mail outs to residents letterboxes for those who do not use social media or local news and information websites.

Raised in the Sippy Downs Community – Unmuzzled Facebook group last night was the topic of Real Estate “Want to sell your Property?” Advertising.

Hello Sippy Downs Real Estate Agents,
Over the past 4 or 5 months I feel that real estate agents have bombarded our neighbourhood with Real Estate Brochures, hand written notes, door knocks and personally addressed letters.
When the kids refer to the agent by first name it’s a bit much!
We know the real estate agents better then the council rep’s that we are ment to vote for this weekend.
All I am saying backoff a bit if we want to sell we will come to you but until then our daily quota of brochures will continue to find the bin or I may save them up and return them to you!

I volunteer (If anyone would would like to join me feel free) to take the results to each and every local real estate and ask them for a reply to be posted in this group or returned via email with replies to be posted in “Sippy Downs Community Unmuzzled” Facebook Group once the agents provide responses. Cut off for responses will be 27th of March at which point I guess we can assume that they don’t care about potential clients wishes.

A feasibility study of medical tourism on the Sunshine Coast (Ethics approval no. A14645)
The purpose of this project is to conduct a feasibility study of medical tourism on the Sunshine Coast. This research seeks to explore different perceptions about medical tourism and to examine the attitudes surrounding medical tourism in light of the hospital developments at Sunshine Coast Public and Private University Hospitals located in Kawana Waters.

If you agree to take part in this project, you will be asked to complete an online survey which will take approximately 20 minutes of your time. There are no foreseeable risks involved in this project. While you will not receive any direct benefits for participating, your information will help in steering the understanding of whether medical tourism will feature in conjunction with the new hospital developments at Kawana Waters.

As your survey responses will be non-identifiable, it will not be possible to withdraw your responses after you have submitted them online. Consent will be implied by completion and submission of the survey. Consent is for the use of your results in this project as well as future related research projects. Confidentiality and results
Your responses to this survey will be completely anonymous, and no member of the research team will know who has participated. A summary of findings will be available by request from the researcher after analysis of the data. Non-identifiable results may be presented at external or internal conferences or meetings, or by publication. Non-identifiable data may be made available for use by other researchers undertaking similar projects in a different context.
