Dear Community Members and representatives,
The Sippy Downs Drive Upgrade Team apologises for any inconvenience to motorists as a result of the traffic congestion experienced in the University Way-Sippy Downs Drive vicinity today.
The new traffic signals at the new University Way and Sippy Downs Drive intersection were first switched on this morning, Tuesday 12 November (refer previous construction notification) with some teething issues experienced.
A combination of the current phasing (timing) of the traffic signals and motorists becoming used to the new conditions created some traffic congestion.
The phasing of the traffic signals is currently being assessed and will be tweaked over the next few days. The onsite team will also continue to monitor traffic movements.
In the interim period we would recommend that motorists allow extra travel time to complete your journey.
When the Sippy Downs Drive Upgrade is completed in December, with the new, four-lane capacity and all traffic signals operating, traffic movements should be greatly improved in the local area.
Once again we apologise for the inconvenience caused today and will continue to keep you informed about the project.
Sippy Downs Drive Upgrade Team
