A fantastic initiative by Sunshine Coast Water Angels! 💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦💦
3 hours from our beautiful home here on the Sunshine Coast Stanthorpe is facing the worst drought in known history.
Rachel and Anna are the driving force behind Sunshine Coast Water Angels. Originating from South-East Qld Rachel and Anna are blessed to call the Sunshine Coast our home and also see that they are also blessed to live with no shortage of water.
On their Sunshine Coast Water Angels Facebook Page, Rachel and Anna point out “We can turn a tap on and not worry, do a load of washing without a second thought, wash our hair as many times as we like in a week, take long relaxing baths. This is our reality…..sadly though it is far from the reality of our southeastern country cousins. They are experiencing the worst drought in history.”
“Stanthorpe is a 3.5-hour drive from here. If you drove out there it would feel as far from here as the moon. The complete contrast of their lifestyle to ours (at present) is incomprehensible. The emotional drain on these families in insurmountable. It will take generations to heal from the damage this drought has caused farming families.”
“There are schools that are running out of drinking water for students and some schools don’t even have enough water to flush the toilets. Imagine that…… it’s hard to, isn’t it?”
“Here we are with so much and just 3.5 hrs down the road a whole community of more than 10 thousand people will run out of water by December. That’s their reality. While we are thinking of Christmas and what to eat for Christmas Day lunch, they will be running out of water.”
Rachel and Anna are seeking your support but they are not asking for money, they are asking for WATER in 600ml BOTTLES.
On Saturday, September 7 from 2 pm to 5 pm Sunshine Coast Water Angels Rachel and Anna will be at Chancellor State College – Sippy Downs Drive Near the new Chancellor Building on the Youi side of the college for those community members who can drop off slabs of water bottles for Stanthorpe
